Even in the sellers-market we are currently enjoying, if
your bathroom is out of date, you risk diminishing the value of your home.
While most stagers and real estate agents agree the kitchen is the most
important room to update when trying to sell, the bathroom is not far behind.
And if you haven’t taken time to improve the functional qualities and aesthetic
appeal of your bathroom, you may find yourself taking less for your home than
you would have liked.
Easy Bathroom Updates
Fortunately, updating the bathroom does not need to be complex. Replacing
outdated fixtures such as
toilets and
faucets is certainly a good idea, but
that may take more time than you feel you have. However, when possible,
replacing older units with new, more advanced fixtures can only help increase
the appeal of your bathroom.
If you are unable to update fixtures, consider adding
features including lighting and storage space. A well-lit bathroom with
medicine and linen cabinets cannot help but produce a more inviting look. Be sure to not
over-crowd a space however. Cramped bathrooms are just as unappealing as
outdated. Selecting size appropriate upgrades can actually help a room appear
larger while still feeling comfortable.
Remember, the bathroom is where every member of a household
starts and ends their day. Making sure yours is clean, welcoming, and fully
updated can increase the value of your home and help ensure a swifter sale.
