Lighting is one of the top considerations during your bathroom remodeling project, but don't think you need to settle on a single light fixture. According to HGTV.com, layering the light with multiple fixtures as well as letting in an abundance of natural light can help to improve the atmosphere of your bathroom at any time of day.
"This is the place where we all do very detailed and important work such as shaving or applying makeup," renowned lighting designer Randall Whitehead told the news source. "It is also the first place we see ourselves in the morning and the last place we see ourselves at night. Wouldn't you want the sight of yourself to be a positive one?"
Whitehead suggests dividing your lighting scheme into four specific areas - task, ambient, accent and decorative lighting. Task lighting is particularly important near your bathroom vanity, while ambient and accent lighting softens shadows and illuminates certain features in your washroom. Lastly, decorative lighting is anything from LED fixtures to a small chandelier, so be adventurous with your style choices.
Lighting requires a lot of trial and error, so be sure to experiment with the many fixtures at your disposal. What lighting combination works best in your bathroom?
