When it comes to designing an attractive and functional bathroom space, many people rely on the advice of industry experts to guide them in the direction of furniture and fixtures that are trend-right.
Each year, the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) polls 100 of its members throughout the nation to gauge what types of bathroom vanities, plumbing fixtures, bathroom accessories and materials are popular in new and remodeled spaces.
Two Tennessee-based designers - Kris Keith and Becky Worley - recently discussed some of the hottest bathroom trends with the Chattanooga Times Free Press.
When it comes to materials for a vanity top, both designers say that granite is still the most commonly-used material, although quartz is gaining popularity.
"Quartz is a little more expensive, but the beauty of quartz is that it's a workhorse counter that holds up to wear and tear, and you can get it in a variety of colors; even wild colors such as fire-engine red, orange or lime green," Worley told the newspaper.
Faucets with a satin nickel finish also continue to become more popular.
"We're also seeing people choose more polished-chrome and polished-nickel faucets," Worley said.
And, when it comes to sinks, under-mount varieties are still the most-used, with vessel sinks coming in second.
