While some design experts recommend keeping the colors in your bathroom neutral, there is a growing trend towards adding bright, bold colors to these spaces.
According to NorthJersey.com, many designers are encouraging their clients to add color to their bathrooms with paint, wallpaper and accessories. After all, a bright color may help invigorate you each morning while you're getting ready for work, or a darker hue may help you create a relaxing, peaceful space to unwind in.
When it comes to painting a bathroom, the type of paint you use is important because of the humidity it will be exposed to.
"In the past, for a bathroom or any wet area, you would use paint with a higher-gloss finish to repel moisture," Sonu Mathew, an interior designer with Benjamin Moore, told the website.
She added that new paint formulas, such as Benjamin Moore's Aura Bath & Spa paint, have matte finishes while still repelling moisture.
Consumers can also add more color to their bathroom with wallpaper or tile. However, according to NouveauBathrooms.com, large prints or busy patterns may make small spaces feel even smaller.
While adding color to a bathroom is a good way to change its look, design experts say a new bathroom vanity can also add a completely different feel to a space.
