While tile and other solid surfaces are the most common choices for a new bathroom floor, design experts say a new product allows homeowners to install carpet in their bathrooms without having to worry about moisture, mold and mildew.
Those looking for a durable area rug or wall-to-wall carpeting for a bathroom might consider a product called FLOR. This modular carpet system product allows users to create a custom floor covering that can be configured for any space.
FLOR is soft and sturdy, but has moisture-wicking properties and antimicrobials that protect against odor and bacteria. Unlike traditional carpet, FLOR carpet tiles will not allow moisture to penetrate to the surface below. Instead, moisture remains on the face of the tile until it is blotted with a clean cloth or until it evaporates. This makes it an ideal product for rooms with high humidity, such as the bathroom.
"The FLOR tiles are great because any individual piece can be removed, cleaned, dried and then put right back into place with no trouble," Sheila Harris, a homeowner who installed this carpet system in a bathroom, told HGTV.com. "Obviously, this is exactly what you want in a bathroom, where there's a lot of moisture. Not just any wall-to-wall carpet would work as well as this does in my bathroom."
