Kohler introduces high-tech toilet
Posted on Friday, April 29, 2011

The Japanese have been enjoying high-tech toilets for years, but the U.S. is finally catching up on the trend with Kohler's introduction of the Numi.

The $6,390 toilet is a sophisticated addition to anyone's bathroom. According to USA Today, Numi is a "smart toilet" that allows its users options to customize anything from seat position to seat warmth and water pressure. The toilet also has an MP3 player and ambient lighting for users who would like to set the mood before doing their business.

It seems that the Numi is not only a toilet but is also a bidet. The device is composed of a water pressure system that will gently clean your bottom. It even has a dryer!

Besides giving its user a royal experience on the throne, the Numi is also kind to the environment. It has a water-efficient "eco" flush that only uses 0.6 gallons per flush, according to the news source.

If you have the cash to spend, why not treat yourself like royalty and get the Numi?

People have varying design tastes - some prefer the elegance of a traditional space while others desire a decluttered look with a modern feel. Those who are eyeing a glass vanity might want to make sure that their current bathroom space will effortlessly fit the style.

Most glass vanities these days are made with a contemporary or modern aesthetic in mind. Vessel sinks are also created from the material, which gives it a sleek and streamlined look. For smaller pieces, the pedestal can be made from steel metal with a chrome finish. Homeowners with bigger bathrooms can opt for a glass vanity with wooden cabinetry for extra storage and contemporary appeal.

Glass vanities are often so striking that they become the focal point of any space. This means that the look of your bathroom will depend on the type of vanity you choose. The simplicity and structure of this piece will allow you to either continue the theme throughout for a modern approach or contrast the minimalism with elaborate accessories.

If you're tired of your basic everyday showerhead, you might want to replace it with a new shower panel that can completely revolutionize your bathing experience. Additionally, changing your shower walls can also completely transform your bathroom.

If you're in the process of renovating your bathroom, take your shower to the next level with state-of-the-art shower panels. Many of these devices come equipped with several water channels for an optimal cleaning session. For a rainfall effect, choose a showerhead that hangs above your head. Most also come with other functions like swiveling water jets that will allow you to enjoy a relaxing massage after a stressful day in the office.

Besides your showerhead, you can kick your makeover up a notch by updating your shower enclosures and walls. Choose a glass enclosure for a contemporary feel that not only looks sophisticated but is also more practical than a shower curtain. Just make sure that the new installation isn't too big so it doesn't overwhelm your space.

People have different ways of dealing with stress - some go to the gym to sweat it out while others choose to spend a few hours in front of the television. There are also those who go to their personal retreats - their bathrooms - to unwind and enjoy a relaxing shower or bath. If you are one of these individuals, you may be happy to learn that there are simple ways to turn your bathroom into a stress-free sanctuary.

The easiest way to set the right atmosphere is to change the color of your bathroom walls. For a soothing space with spa-like qualities, opt for a light palette like mint, apple or spring green. For a more dramatic effect, choose darker colors in blue - just make sure that your fixtures and bathroom vanity match accordingly.

Another way to infuse an unforgettable ambiance into your bathroom space is by playing around with your light source. Add a wall mount lighting fixture on top of your bathroom vanity in order to set the perfect scene and you'll soon end up with a fabulous room in which you'll be excited to retreat.

Organize your bathroom with the right fixtures
Posted on Thursday, April 28, 2011

It's really easy to mess up your bathroom. If you don't have the proper storage space, your bathroom could soon look like a warzone of hygiene products. If you don't have the room for a cabinet, you might want to look into getting shelving units instead.

Shelves are great additions to your bathroom because they don't take up too much space. These bathroom accessories can easily be hung on the wall right next to your bathroom vanity for easy access. Just make sure that you get the right kind that will match the design aesthetic of your room.

For that corner space on the wall, a multi-tiered corner basket unit is the perfect addition for those without any room left. You can put many of your bathroom accessories as well as other knickknacks in the shelves so as to not clutter your counterspace.

People with a more contemporary design can also opt for glass shelves. These bathroom accessories are not only sleek and sophisticated, they are also practical pieces for your cramped bathroom.

Not everyone has the time or the money for a complete bathroom overhaul. Most people normally take it one step at a time, replacing small fixtures here and there. If you're planning on replacing your bathroom vanity but would like to keep your current tiles, you have to understand that different colors and designs might just not mesh well.

If you have white tiles in your bathroom then you're in luck. The neutral color will pretty much match any new fixture or installation of your choosing. White is the perfect backdrop for a contemporary bathroom vanity. You can also opt for an antique bathroom vanity that will add some much needed elegance and flair to your space.

For mosaic glass tiles, the color will be the deciding factor on which vanity you should get. Blue mosaics can be a great backsplash to a modern bathroom vanity. The streamlined look of your furniture will elevate the whimsical look of the tiles and highlight the color. Just remember to choose a neutral piece, otherwise it will look too matchy.

Going green is not a trend - it's a lifestyle change that many individuals are actively embracing. From reducing carbon footprints to buying fair-trade products, there are many ways to kick-start your green lifestyle. Another method to becoming eco-conscious is to start in your bathroom by conserving water.

If, say, you have a toilet that uses three gallons of water per flush, if you use your toilet five times a day, you are wasting 15 gallons a day - that's 5475 a year - and that's just the toilet! Showering and using the bathroom faucet only multiplies that number.

For those who are ready to give sustainable living a go, why not replace your bathroom accessories with products that can help conserve water? Many faucets and showerheads are available these days that limit the amount of water coming out. At the same time, there are toilets that have been outfitted to reduce water waste.

You can also do your part in saving water. Instead of taking a bath a couple of times a week, why not take a quick shower instead and save a soak in the tub for an especially stressful day?

People go to the bathroom to do their business, but is it as simple as that? Many are actually turning their bathrooms into spa-like retreats where they can pamper themselves and feel relaxed from the stresses of everyday living.

If you're one of those who's ready to turn their bathrooms into a luxury spa, choosing the right bathroom vanity and fixtures is crucial in creating that look and feel of the room. According to the Calgary Herald's Jacqueline Louis, who recently attended a bathroom showcase event, vessel sinks are definitely the trend for those hoping to have this space embody a sophisticated appeal. These types of sinks are seen as separate pieces from the bathroom vanity, giving your bathroom that perfect touch of elegance.

Another way that you can pamper yourself in your own personal spa is by installing a steam shower. Many of these enclosures available on the market are equipped with state-of-the-art technology including aromatherapy, audio players and ambient lighting, giving you that spa-like experience in the comforts of your own home.

Labels: , , ,

So you've installed the bathroom vanity and painted the wall, but there still seems to be something missing. In order to create the look you desire, you still need to accessorize to make your space appealing.

Because your bathroom is a small space, it's actually easier to put together a look that will be cohesive. To complete the makeover, think about a theme that you might want in there - just don't be too literal with the bathroom accessories.

If, for example, you were thinking about creating a nautical scene, hanging several anchors on the walls and installing a shower curtain adorned with a beach scene may seem too severe. Instead, opt for a more subtle way of showing your love of the sea. Besides a blue accent wall, choose bathroom accessories such as a vase and fill it with some sand and shells. Throw your favorite scented candle inside and place it on your bathroom vanity for a sophisticated take on the beach theme.

There's nothing better after a tiring day at work than going to a health spa and enjoying a revitalizing moment in the steam room. These days, that kind of indulgence can be enjoyed in the comfort of your own home with the advent of the steam shower.

Most available steam showers on the market are fully loaded enclosures, complete with their own steam generator for easy use. At the same time, many models come equipped with extra features like a radio or an MP3 player hookup. Of course, this part of your bathroom also functions as a shower, often coming equipped with rainfall fixtures for that perfect relaxing experience.

Steam showers nowadays have also become more sophisticated than ever. Gone are the days of these things looking like space capsules in your bathroom. Instead, these enclosures come in many different styles, from sleek contemporary designs to wood paneled structures that can be a great addition to this part of your home.

So what are you waiting for? Do something special for yourself and get a steam shower for your bathroom today.

Renovating your entire bathroom can be costly, especially if you're looking to upgrade a number of different components within the area. However, there are many ways to makeover your space without having the comfort of a huge budget.

Changing the colors of your bathroom walls is a quick way to completely revamp your space, and because of its small size, the task can be accomplished over the course of one weekend. Have a favorite color? Splash it on the walls of your bathroom, and if you don't like what you see, change it the next day. This is not only time-efficient - it's also cheap, as a can of paint usually costs as low as 20 dollars.

Another inexpensive way to spruce up your space is to replace your bathroom accessories. For example, try to change fixtures with streamlined pieces that have the same finish. Updating these features will definitely give your space that refined finish that you've been looking for and kick the look of the space up a notch quite easily.

Get an antique bathroom vanity for that personalized look
Posted on Wednesday, April 27, 2011

If you consider yourself a traditionalist, opting for an antique bathroom vanity for your renovation may just be the right choice for you.

A traditional style of living often involves decorating one's home with pieces that emulate furniture from the 17th to the 19th century, which were produced for the European upper class, according to Eco Furniture. Generally, this design aesthetic features the use of dark wood and elaborate carvings. Because of its elegance and formal look, the style has been favored by many for centuries.

Of course, opting for a traditional style in your bathroom can be a lot harder than it seems - after all, you can't really accessorize this space with furniture unless you want it to look like a parlor full of antiques. You can, however, choose an antique bathroom vanity as the focal point of your space, which will epitomize the look and feel of the traditional style.

Many antique bathroom vanities have a wooden cabinet as the body, created with everything from oak to birch. The sink is then secured with a top made from different types of materials like travertine, granite or marble.

The look of a modern bathroom
Posted on Monday, April 25, 2011

Many hear about it all the time, but most of us may not know what to picture when the term "modern" is uttered.

Is a modern design a streamlined look with strong geometry and futuristic aspects - maybe a room fit for the Jetsons? Flying cars aside, this design aesthetic can be characterized by clean spaces decorated without too much fuss. According to HGTV, the style came from the 1930s German Bauhaus School of Design as well as Scandinavian influences.

Individuals who are thinking about overhauling their bathrooms to alter the aesthetic should begin with a neutral palette. The news source explains that a modern space should most likely have white walls, allowing the furnishings and bathroom accessories to take center stage.

Additionally, individuals may want to think about adorning the room with sleek, smooth and polished accessories, according to the news source. This means choosing a bathroom vanity with a simple but bold appearance and bathroom faucets and other fixtures in chrome or stainless steel.

Following this modernistic approach will definitely bring your space into the 21st century, but don't be afraid to personalize it by adding pieces that you love.

Choose the right color for your bathroom
Posted on Friday, April 22, 2011

It's safe to say that different colors have a variety of effects on an individual's state of mind. And when it comes to your home, the color of your walls is of the utmost importance.

Of course, when dealing with your bathroom, it's vital to choose a hue that's eye-catching but can still harmonize your bathroom accessories and fixtures. Bath tubs, sinks and tiles in neutral colors like white are a lot easier to work with and will allow you to work with a variety of colors for the walls.

Catherine B. Stein, founder and president of The Color Council, maintains that deeper colors look fantastic in smaller bathrooms.

"Don't try to hide the fact that it's a small space," she says. "Instead, treat the room like a little jewel box, painting the walls and the ceiling the same color, and make it really special."

Of course, it's also important to remember that a little goes a long way. Shower panels and toilets with memorable accentuations are bound to have a positive effect on anyone who enters your home.

Following up to our last post showcasing new products, here are some new modern bathroom vanities we couldn’t resist highlighting.
Fresca is a brand that has an incomparable design sense. Evidence: the Fresca Adour — 16” and 32”— modern single sink bathroom vanity. It has universal appeal. To start, the brass with chrome finish hardware gives it a sculptural artwork aesthetic. Not only is this vanity available in pale blonde or rich chocolate brown with white accents, but also the mirror comes with a matching shelf in either shade with coordinated hardware. We also think the shelf is an added value for keeping essentials handy above the sink. By now, you’ve likely noticed that we’re big fans of the linen tower. Here it’s an ideal storage accompaniment with four interior cubbies and a bottom pullout drawer (note: this item is sold separately). Coupled with the cubbies and drawer in the vanity, we’d have to say that this is a primo set-up. Sold!
In keeping with our design affection for subtle white, we’re introducing the Fresca Letaro 42” modern bathroom vanity. This is white-on-white all the way! What we really like is the inventive sink design and the fact that there’s plenty of room on either side of the single chrome handle faucet for keeping daily basics. Storage addicts this one’s for you cause there are six deep cabinets and drawers, and, you can pair the vanity with a matching linen tower too.
Happy extended Spring Sales Event!

It's safe to say that you don't really get to know someone's personality until you see their home. Expressing yourself through unique interior design choices is a basic way to let the world know who you are - so why not transfer those elements into your bathroom as well?

If you're planning on kick-starting a home makeover, the best place to create a new look that will reflect your style is in the bathroom. Because of its small space, sprucing up this room can be more practical than tackling a large area, such as a living or dining room.

Planning on how your space will look should depend on your own personality and style. Those who always want to stand out may prefer a more noticeable bathroom design, where sleek mirrors, eye-catching faucets and other bold bathroom accessories are used. When it comes to wall colors, vibrant and unforgettable hues are bound to look fantastic.

More traditional folks may want to make use of an antique bathroom vanity. Pair the furniture piece with cool complementary colors, such as pastels or a beautiful shade of beige, and your bathroom will soon become your sanctuary.

What’s New? Top of the Line Contemporary Vanities
Posted on Wednesday, April 20, 2011
The vanity assortment just got even more diversified. As you know, we introduced a line of antique bathroom vanities just a few months back. They are already proving to be extremely popular! So we thought, what’s next? Well since we’re always sourcing what’s hot in the marketplace, we went on an intensive search for even more modern bathroom vanities. And wouldn’t you know it — we recently came across designs we just couldn’t help adding to our affordable lux line. Suffice it to say; sophisticated style like this could not be ignored! See for yourself, these vanities could be just what you’ve been dreaming of.

Modern Mode
To start, the Fresca Ciron modern double sink bathroom vanity has two storage drawers and plenty of extra space that’s perfect for stacking towels below two wide cylinder above counter ceramic white sinks. Its loft-like appeal could be attributed to both the dark tempered glass surfaces coupled with a heavy gauge tuber steel frame. And a purchase during’s extended Springs Sales Event (through May 15th) translates to 50 percent to 75 percent savings plus an extra 10 percent savings on the Fresca brand. How tempting is that?
Next up, the new Fresca Moselle 59" modern glass bathroom vanity boasts six ebony Macassar veneer drawers with oversize circular (brass with chrome finish) hardware. Ebony Macassar has a dramatic appearance with a beautiful sheen; the unit sits on legs that are reminiscent of decorative corbels. The model is available in 49” with four drawers and 36” with two drawers (powder room perfect). All models come with coordinating wall mirrors in the ebony macassar veneer.
The Fresca brand Strata 24" modern single sink bathroom vanity with striated zebrano-esque cabinetry includes three sizeable storage drawers. Its oval ceramic counter top sink is a statement maker by virtue of its thick-rim design. Two additional configurations of vanity width include 39” and 60” incorporating additional drawer storage and working counter space, plus with the 60” there are dual sinks. Bonus!
White on White: Designing a Modern Haven
Posted on Tuesday, April 19, 2011
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: we like white. Minimalist all white bathrooms speak to us. So in keeping with the feel of our Springs Sales Event — where our customers receive deep discounts — 50 percent to 75 percent off retail prices — we’d like to emphatically state that there’s just something about the pureness of white that evokes warmer weather and sophisticated ease. Broaching the subject once more, nowhere is this more the case than in a white interior where shiny silver finishes accent and add to an atmosphere that shouts modern, clean, uncluttered and comfortable. Think ivory and antique white. Think chic and timeless. Go with paint colors named everything from China White to Cloud White to Ballet White (for walls and ceilings). How can you go wrong with that?

Luxurious simplicity that is always affordable is our hallmark. One look at the white hued pedestal sinks we offer is proof. Some of the best design advice we’ve received is that making white a focal color in a room design can create surprising depth within the space. And, we can’t help but think that our array of white vanities (you’ll find them in our black and white vanities department on is varied enough to suit anyone with an interest in creating a white atmosphere in the bath.

Minimalist Fashion
One of our favorites that has good looks and is ultra-functional with a pull out hamper (how unique!) is the Fresca Libero modern bathroom vanity. It is designed with a tempered glass countertop and a trendy oversize cylindrical white ceramic vessel sink, plus a single handle chrome faucet. But what could very well be its strongest selling point is the pull out laundry basket on wheels that’s located just underneath the base. It is compact, yet purposeful modern interior design at its best. One more thing, during’s Spring Sales Event, shoppers will receive an extra 10 percent discount on all Fresca brand products.
The days of excessive energy consumption and the need for homes to have living rooms are passé, while the “Great Room” is the likeliest room to be included in the average new home, according to the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). A recent study on the New Home of 2015 indicates that the most recent economic downturn had a serious impact on how homeowners are looking at the future of their next home — shifting perspectives on the housing they want and need. That translates to forgetting about ornate and excessive. Instead, there’s a focus on efficiency, open design, practical applications and green. And as homeowners continue to devote time, energy and funds in order to create a sanctuary in the bathroom, striving for individuality is still at the forefront. Design-wise, bathroom features likely to be included in the average new home in 2015 include double vanities and linen closets. Looks like is well ahead of future trends, we’ve got a portfolio with energy saving dual-flush toilets, double sink bathroom vanities and linen closet towers. How about that?

Some Findings
Since staying aware of what’s happening in the marketplace is our norm, we’ve got some of the other survey results from the New Home of 2015 to share with you. Prognosticating can be fun!
Building industry professionals surveyed expect homes to average 2,152 square feet in 2015, 10 percent smaller than the average size of single-family homes in the first three quarters of 2010. As for that living room prediction, well, in order to make the most of square footage elsewhere in the home, the living room won’t stay in its current form. More than 50 percent of respondents expect it to mesh with other spaces in the home and 30 percent surveyed suggest it just might disappear entirely.
Nearly 70 percent of builders surveyed say that homes in 2015 will also include more green features and technology, including water-efficient features such as dual-flush toilets or low-flow faucets and an Energy Star rating for the whole house.
Shower Behavior: A Revealing Survey on American Habits
Posted on Thursday, April 14, 2011
We immediately thought, wow, this could be juicy. What are we referring to? Well, in the course of researching what homeowners are thinking about regarding design preferences and other keen stuff, we came across a survey on of all topics: American’s Secret Shower Behaviors, conducted by Synovate, an online ombinus research service. It’s an intriguing topic so we decided to share some of the findings with you. As retailers of affordable luxury bathroom products (including an array of innovative showers in our portfolio), we just couldn’t help ourselves! If the survey results ultimately urge on innovations and technologies that enhance people's experience with water in their homes, that’s a win-win. Let’s get started.

Stress Relief
Turns out that a significant proportion of survey respondents are likely to take showers for relaxation, to escape, to get away, meditate, relieve pain, warm up and eliminate stress. It’s actually noted that showers are a far more affordable alternative to pricey massages. Here’s a valid reason if we ever heard one to consider one of’s fully loaded steam showers!

Buddy Time
Now here’s when the whole men are from Mars, women are from Venus thing comes into play. Survey results show that a fair share of men (40 percent) say their dream shower would include more room for significant others. However, women (45 percent) would rather opt for lux options such as ambient music and lighting. To compound this difference of opinion further, it appears that South Atlantic residents are significantly more likely to shower with a significant other (12 percent) than Middle Atlantic residents (a lonely 1 percent). Come on people, what about your civic duty to be eco-stewards with your water usage? (Kidding).

There’s a lot more to those Mars and Venus differences, to be sure. About 40 percent of women say that "My shower is my time for focusing on just me" compared to only 28 percent of men who responded similarly. Plus, four percent of women attest they would rather take a good shower than talk to their significant other.

And in keeping with an affinity for being in control of the TV remote, men and showers also share a common bond. Men change the spray pattern and adjust water flow in the shower far more significantly and more often than women.

Aren’t these results interesting? It’s pretty clear how they could influence design trends and even influence motivations for why we buy what we buy.
Make it Special: Bathroom Cravings
Posted on Wednesday, April 13, 2011
If you’re tired of thinking of your bath space as just a utilitarian room, you’re not alone. Most homeowners today yearn for a bathroom that’s actually more like a den, with everything from heated floors to soaking tubs to flat-screen TVs built into bathroom mirrors. According to top designers, there’s even more room for gadgets and gizmos. We say “keep ‘em coming!”

Lux and Convenient
Today’s bathroom is meant to be nothing less than luxurious and fuss-free. And aren’t we all for that! Along those lines, here’s a thought, how about tub-side refrigeration? Or a medicine cabinet and/or bathroom vanity with an outlet inside (ultra access for anything from a shaver to an electric toothbrush). How about a medicine cabinet with built-in refrigeration for meds that ought to be kept cold and even to keep your nail polish chilled? Besides those options, remodelers are tearing out the tub and replacing it with a tricked-out shower that’s not only airy but also fully loaded with multiple showerheads plus advanced water pressure and LCD control temp functions and even steam room therapeutic experience qualities. We like’s Ariel Platinum DS204 steam shower, for example.

All of this great stuff is definitely more the norm than the exception. And nowadays eco-anything automatically gives you bragging rights regarding sustainability and green ethics — so how about smart-shower technology that offers lower water flow but with the same qualities of a favorite standard showerhead? Or, low-flow toilets that have two flush options, releasing less water when it isn’t needed. See’s “Eco-Friendly” department, which includes cool, modern designs by Fresca such as the Bolzano elongated toilet. This toilet features a dual flushing system with an option of 0.8 gallons per flush, or 1.6 gallons per flush. And as for that much longed for almighty storage, vertical has caught on — especially in striking linen cabinet towers. Other top trends we like include the ever-growing popularity of faucets that jut out from the wall or sinks with legs/stands.’s portfolio includes the Fresca Ovale modern glass bathroom vanity with glass shelf. Its stylish chrome stand certainly fits the profile.
Idea File: Design Team Favorites
Posted on Tuesday, April 12, 2011
Every now and then we like to give ourselves a pat on the back for a product selection that is full of diversity, that offers quality and which is sold at affordable prices (always). We’re constantly sourcing what’s happening trend-wise in the marketplace for what we think our fashionable, savvy and budget-smart shoppers would like to see more of. With that said, following are what we’re calling’s “Idea File.” Just a few of our faves! Hopefully you’ll like them too and who knows, this just might be the inspiration you need to add something new into your design repertoire.

Be Reflective
We like the idea of reflective surfaces in bathrooms, so we would like to suggest incorporating mosaic wall tile along with an oversize mirror (or a grouping of varying size mirrors on one wall). So here are a couple of items in our mix that just might fit the bill:
  • Martini Mosaic Tile - Essen Series - Acciaio Reflect. Isn’t this cool? It’s name is apropos because Essen is short for “essential.” Made of glass, this tile is perfectly suited as an accent strip or backsplash (powder room or master suite bathroom). Industrial and hotel to home-esque, it’s got a reflective quality that can’t be beat.
  • Bathroom Mirror with Art Deco-Inspired Frame. This Fresca brand mirror is a favorite because it gives presence to a room. It has its own lighting fixtures (attached), which add to its ability to reflect. Perfect!
Artistic Detailing
  • What says artistic more than nuanced design? In a world of mundane, why be ordinary? Faucets in the line-up that carry the “be special” cachet are numerous. When popularity contests rule, this has to be hands down, the most uber cool of the lot:
Fresca - Cascata - Waterfall Vessel Faucet – Chrome. Manufactured from heavy-duty brass with chrome featured as the finish, this is one heck of a conversation maker. It’s great for a couple of reasons: it is tall enough to clear any standard sized bowl sink, which makes it an ideal choice for any number of sinks found on, including vessel sinks or bowl sinks. And, it’s simply got beautiful lines. Now, imagine it with water cascading. Right?
Look for more “Idea File” postings in future blogs. We’ll keep ‘em coming!
We pride ourselves on offering the best products for less. Our credo has been from day one: Affordable Luxury. In essence, great goods that won’t break the budget. Affordable luxury is actually a term that’s bandied about plenty these days. It’s flattering to know that we’re trending along with the best and the brightest.
Newsy items insist consumers want a bigger bang for their buck or “premiumisation” aka everyday affordable luxury. We agree! Plus, there’s also the need for a guarantee that they’re getting something in return for their hard earned bucks — mainly, accessible quality. It’s been reported that more traditional luxury manufacturers will likely split their focus and either draw back from the ultra elite markets or find ways to become legitimate players in this new realm. As evidence of this already happening, think affordable luxury SUVs or brand name designer eyewear. And even a long-standing Texas-based homebuilder has gotten into the act, stating it’s “found the delicate balance between creature comforts and conveniences and logical cost conservatism, thus affordable luxury.” Perhaps even more surprising, is the fact that the venerable French fashion house, Lanvin, entered the affordable lux fray last year when it launched Lanvin for H & M collection (comprised of nearly 80 designs with price points ranging from $9.99 - $349). Nice one! Of note: H&M operates in 39 countries and has 87,000 employees.

Buying Habits
Regarding current consumption trends, there’s another term that’s been played out by pundits and its reflective of the economy and consumer spending habits, it’s called the “the lipstick effect.” Consumers used to purchasing luxury products are opting for less pricey lux ones instead, and now more so than ever. We like this trendy term because not only does it relate to a savvy consumer who is looking for quality for less hard earned bucks, but this is also an individual whose spending pattern refuses to shift to a complete halt. We hope this shopper has on his/her radar! By the way, “the lipstick effect” entered into the financial lexicon thanks to Leonard Lauder, Chairman of Estee Lauder. Who knows, maybe we’ll be next with a!
Clean up the Clutter - Accessorize in Style
Posted on Wednesday, April 6, 2011
Now that we officially kicked-off our Spring Sales Event — we’re in the mood to spring clean and creatively change our environment up a bit. It’s going to be fun, especially with big-time savings on everything in the portfolio — how does saving 50 percent – 75 percent off everything sound? Plus an extra 10 percent off of our Fresca brand!
So let’s clear out the clutter and freshen up our surroundings. There’s nothing quite like a sense of renewal.

Buh-bye Clutter, Hello Fuss-Free
We all would like to think that no matter what; we’ve got design vision. And we do! But, there’s also that little nuisance called “reality.” You know, when your postcard perfect bathroom takes on a life of it’s own, thanks to mess. Here’s a spring cleaning remedy: All those shampoo bottles from hotels piled up like a monument to trips well-traveled, sorry, but they need to go. It’s akin to the golden rule of closet organizing: If you haven’t worn it in a year, toss it. So, that means unclutter your bathroom by only keeping (in view, in the medicine cabinet or on shelves) what you actually use now. To maintain your charming mess-free design vision, give yourself a little bit of help and accessorize! Items like the Fresca brand Ultimo 2 tier glass shelf is a great asset for organizing clutter. We’re also big fans of bathroom linen cabinets, and think the Fresca brand bathroom linen cabinet with four narrow cubbyholes is an orderliness winner. We especially like the fact that it includes a mirror on the door (in conjunction with a striated/zebrano-esque walnut motif that’s got kickin’ style). It also perfectly matches the GW vanities in the portfolio.

One more thing, here’s a notable clutter-free idea that we imitate, it originally comes from the diva of household perfection, Martha Stewart:
Since there never seems to be enough room to hang towels, an easy solution to preventing them from ending up on the floor is this: stack towel bars behind closed doors (we like at least a trio of towel bars) to make the space more efficient and neat!
Little Touches: Pedestal Sinks = Big Style
Posted on Tuesday, April 5, 2011
Now that our Spring Sales Event is on (where you will save 50 percent – 75 percent off retail on everything) it’s definitely time to start shopping!
Are you looking for traditional clean lines or a minimalist attitude? Let us suggest a pedestal sink. Promise, it will get high marks in terms of design style without breaking the budget or clogging up a less than expansive space. The choices in our portfolio are cool, modern and graceful. Take a look here.

White Hot
If you’re not looking for frills or bursts of color, but rather a serene environment where calm prevails, we’ve got a few ideas for you. When you choose statement making white-on-white in a powder room, for instance, your sense of both strength and simplicity in the environment will make the hue seem truly brilliant. Now, if that doesn’t win you over…

Pedestal Sinks
They don’t take up much space and help to give the bath a polished look. Not to worry about lost storage space (that you would otherwise have in a large bathroom vanity), there are plenty of ways to make up for it — such as shelving above the sink or the addition of a side/linen cabinet or medicine cabinet with extra shelves or cubbies built-in. In the portfolio, there are plenty of options in pedestal sinks. We especially like our pristine white geometrically-shaped ceramic modern pedestal bathroom vanity; and our modern Fresca quadro pedestal sink, also in white, which is a natural for a modern bathroom — when you look at it from the side it resembles the number seven! So whether you’re conventional or a bit more modern in your taste preferences, we’ve got stylish, affordable choices no matter your leaning. As for much-needed storage options, choose form something almost industrial looking, a modern medicine cabinet (with three cabinets) and cool stainless steel handles; or a white bathroom medicine cabinet with tempered glass shelf and built in light at the top. It might be just the perfect foil for a more traditional or transitional aesthetic.
The medicine cabinet with the tempered glass shelf has been featured with one of our double-door more diminutive vanities that we call the Lindo. It too has an all white finish and a white ceramic sink that adds a fresh clean feeling to whatever space it occupies. Hey, if you’re less inclined for the pedestal look, then think of this as just another perfect option!
And one more point for consideration, while some of our sinks come with a suggested faucet (i.e., the Lindo is designed with the Tartaro) we know it might not be what you’re looking for, so you can customize with any of the faucets that you prefer from our portfolio online or in our showrooms.
Daffodils are the perennial symbol of springtime and ours are definitely blooming! So why not reflect the season in your bathroom with cheery yellow daffodils and pink tulips (so springy!). Nothing says spring like eye-popping color bursts. But if muted is more your style, think toned down Easter egg shades like beeswax, honeysuckle. coral rose, lavender and blue curacao. Let that vase full of flowers lead the way for coordinating a spring color scheme with towels and other color-friendly accessories. See how easy it is to get inspired?
